Moving Forward!

WHAT IS STRATEGIC PLANNING?

The strategic planning process involves commissioners, department heads, elected officials, staff and the public.  These stakeholders work towards creating effective county government by defining objectives and goals; creating a task list with actionable items, resources, and deadlines; how to align the departments and resources to meet objectives; and defining internal controls and how results will be measured.

WHO IS DOING THE PLAN?

In spring of 2019 the County did a Request For Proposals (RFP) and selected Moss Adams to be the planning consultant.  Moss Adams started interviewing county elected officials and staff, as well as representatives from the community, in September.  They will meet with the cities and ports on October 1.  A ‘kick-off’ meeting will be held on October 2 at 9:00 a.m. as part of the Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting.

Press Release – November 5, 2019
Curry County to Host Strategic Planning Public Open House

Gold Beach, OR, November 5, 2019: Curry County is working to develop a new strategic plan to guide the County’s priorities for the next 5 years. As part of this work, the County will be hosting a public open house on Tuesday, November 12, from 6:00-8:00pm at the Gold Beach Public Library.

The goal of the strategic plan is to help Curry County identify major priorities and determine actions to achieve those goals. It should also help the County increase transparent communication about the work it is doing to serve the public as efficiently and effectively as possible. The planning process is being facilitated by an independent group from Moss Adams, and will bring together ideas and information from the County Board of Commissioners, staff, residents, and other stakeholders.

To gather resident feedback, the County will publish an online public survey and host an open house on November 12. At this open house, the public will be invited to provide input about the County’s potential goals, challenges, and opportunities for the coming years. All interested residents are strongly encouraged to attend and participate.

The survey, when available, will be posted on this page.
